Grand Classics was launched in New York by Katrina Pavlos and Vanessa Wingate Bowlby of Indyssey Entertainment in April of 2002. The film series began, in its inception, as a way to bring people together, after September 11th and celebrate the power of film to inspire, with renowned filmmakers presenting films that have inspired them. Grand Classics offers an ideal setting for the most prominent actors and directors and fashion designers to expose extraordinary films to new audiences and speak about the effect cinema has had on them.
The Grand Classics film series now runs bi-monthly in New York and London, with special events in Los Angeles, Miami and Aspen. Grand Classics will also soon be launching in Paris, Milan and Rome, bringing this unique cinema experience to a wider audience.
Co-founder Katrina Pavlos explains:

The shared spirit of cinema is highlighted at the Grand Classics with filmmakers introducing audiences to incredible films, whilst benefiting film preservation and cinema history"
The series celebrates the power of film while benefiting motion picture preservation through contributions to the British Film Institute (bfi). In the past, the series has benefited the American Film Institute (AFI). Both organizations play an important role in raising awareness and supporting film preservation.
