Persol Magnificent Obsessions illuminates ten stories of craftsmanship within filmmaking, each linked to the Persol brand. From the perspective of iconic films such as ‘The Darjeeling Limited’, “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”, “ Gandhi”, “Marie Antoinette” and “Brazil”, the exhibit, which IN-House Series linked stories and weaved in filmmakers offered behind-the-scenes details.

Curated by Michael Connor, with Brazil curation by Holly Gilliam, research notes, sketches, interviews, stories and materials used in the development process by some of the world’s most influential filmmakers brought this exhibit to life in New York, Paris and Milan. Actor Sir Ben Kingsley, director Terry Gilliam, and legendary costume designer Milena Canonero were on hand for the opening.

“We think of obsession as something personal and something negative, but in this exhibition we’re actually looking at people who feel incredible passion and make it a shared and collective experience.” – Curator, Michael Connor / VOGUE

The opening night’s guest of honor, director Terry Gilliam, was quick to talk about his reputation for cinematic obsessions: “I like the idea of something about cinema and obsession…It’s a term that gets used a lot but most people don’t know what true obsession is.”
